Last Updated: July 23, 2014

This week I thought I'd do something a little bit different for the Fibro Warrior Wednesday interview. I'm talking to a different kind of warrior, a spoonie partner. A few weeks ago we talked with Nick Lutes. This week I'm going to interview his girlfriend, Kim. Kim is 32, and (like Nick) lives in … [Read more...]

Caution: Chronic Illness May Cause Relationship Conflicts

Last Updated: June 22, 2014

Relationship issues have been in the foreground of my mind lately, so today's Sunday Inspiration post has been inspired by three posts on handling relationship conflicts. We've been in counseling for several months now and if there's one thing I've learned it's that I can't focus on what I'd want … [Read more...]

We are all fighting battles that no one knows anything about

"We are truly all fighting battles no one knows anything about." Everyone is fighting an invisible battle. It may not be illness, mental, or physical. It may just be the demons left-over from a rough child-hood. It may be any number of things, but we are all dealing with something. This post from … [Read more...]

Fibromyalgia and sex (the unspoken reality) - Image of couple in bed - Counting My Spoons

Fibromyalgia and Sex the unspoken reality Sex. It's not a dirty word, yet it's a topic that we seem to want to avoid, instead of deal with. We ignore it and try to pretend that the giant purple elephant is not in the room. When I talk to friends with Fibromyalgia, the topic of sex rarely comes up, … [Read more...]

What is a Spoonie?

Last Updated: March 31, 2014

What do spoons have to do with chronic illness?

What is a spoonie? A question that comes up pretty often on Twitter is "What is a Spoonie". We often used the hashtag #spoonie in our posts or refer to ourselves as Spoonies, and those who are new to the term don't understand why. What is the definition of a spoonie? And, where does that term … [Read more...]

This week I've really been trying to focus on my Mantras: "Let it Go" and "Whatever is Is" and I think it's been helping me avoid getting stuck on the little things. There have been a few posts across the web this week that have inspired me and I want to share those with you in hopes that you will … [Read more...]

Last Updated: September 23, 2013

"I think we have more trouble seeing our own lives sometimes..." This is something a friend of mine said recently in reply to how he'd sent myself and another friend the same link twice (about two weeks apart). He was commenting on how we all often repeat ourselves but we don't realize it. We'll … [Read more...]
