4 Tips for Boosting Your Immune System

Guest post by Brooke Whistance

Your immune system is responsible for defending you against diseases and keeping you healthy and functional. If it doesn’t protect you against even the most common of infections than your immune system needs a boost.

A good way to know if your immune system is strong or not is to analyze how often you suffer from a cold or flu throughout the year. Other factors of an unstable system may involve craving sugar, dehydration and swollen lymph glands.

Too much stress can also be a contributing factor for the imbalance in your system.

Whether you have a common cold or are suffering from a Eating better, you need to make your body’s defense system better. In order to improve your chances of leading a healthy life, here are a few steps that you need to follow:

4 tips for boosting your immune system

Exercise:

Exercise can help you shape your body and allow you to live a healthy lifestyle. However, it is not just the appearance that changes with exercise; it also helps in the immune system. This is because the exercise can increase your white blood cells (WBC) and antibodies.

The WBCs are the cells that actually help the immune system fight off illnesses. Exercise helps these WBC and antibodies start circulating your blood system faster and hence makes them more able to detect any harmful bacteria in your body faster.

This enables the WBCs to begin the process of elimination before you are affected by the harmful entities.

Nutritional Intake:

Eating better equates to a healthy life and a better immunity. You need to watch what you eat and work on developing a healthy diet that is rich in all nutrients.

One of the most important foods that your body needs is Vitamins. Vitamins C and E are specifically the ones that help in repairing bones and wounds.

Natural foods that are rich in beta-carotene and zinc should also be consumed in abundance as these help prevent various diseases.

 Sleeping Patterns:

One of the most common reasons for a declining health is that you have an unhealthy sleep pattern. Sleep deprivation can cause the immune system to decline and produce white blood cells at a lower rate. This results in your body losing its defense even among the most common airborne viruses such as flu.

Furthermore, the body is also likely to reactivate previous illnesses which may even result in a worse disease than before. When your body doesn’t get enough rest, the immune system will release and inflammatory response which will be harmful for you. The reaction can be as severe as triggering a heart-related disease.

Probiotics:

Having a healthy gut is essential to staying healthy because a lot of your immune system protection comes from your gut. Probiotics help strengthen your immune system by making their way into your gut. Probiotics keep the gut healthy, to make sure the immune system functions well.

The Probiotics in the GI tract will help in block the harmful bacteria from escaping the intestines and into the blood stream. This decreases the possibility of you getting infected especially with food borne illnesses.

Fermented products are the result of good bacteria and must be consumed in accordance to the regulations set by your dietician.

A healthy immune system means that you will have long, healthy life.

Something that may start out to be a small problem on your part can turn out to be the cause of great distress for you. In order to prevent that from happening, your immune system needs to be in a better condition throughout your life.
