The i’mpossible Project: Re-engaging with Life, Creating a New You

Last Updated: October 12, 2015

Welcome! It looks like you might be new here, so I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little about me and my blog. My name is Julie Ryan and I live with Fibromyalgia. I've chosen to live positively, to fight back with diet and lifestyle changes and it's made a huge difference for me. The difference between living all my days in bed, and actually LIVING. I hope you'll keep reading and subscribe to my Newsletter to make sure you don't miss a post. Thanks for visiting!

*BTW, just a heads up that the post below may have affiliate links (some of my posts do).

Welcome back! I'm so glad that you are here again. If you've not already, be sure to subscribe to my Newsletter and I'll update you each time I post (and occasionally I'll send you something special).

Just a heads up that the post below may have affiliate links.

I got a surprise in the mail the other day. It was a book, but not just any book. It was my advanced authors copy of The i’Mpossible Project: Re-engaging with Life, Creating a New You. An even bigger surprise awaited when I opened the book to my chapter and showed it to my husband, who immediately sat down and read it. (He’s not much of a reader, and I really didn’t expect him to do more than take a cursory look and say congratulations).

Earlier this year Josh Rivedal contacted me and asked if I’d be interested in writing an essay for his new collection, The i’Mpossible Project. I was flattered and humbled that he’d want to include me, that he even had a clue who I was for that matter. So, I wrote something up for him and really didn’t think a lot about it after that. (My brain can only hold so much info).

Josh is known for his own memoir – Kicking My Blue Genes in the Butt.  In it he recounts going from the top, living the life of a Broadway actor, to the bottom, fighting depression and contemplating suicide. He shared his story of triumph and overcoming the seemingly impossible. He then began hearing from others who shared their stories and decided to put together another book, sharing a vast array of stories of overcoming, re-engaging, and creating new life out of the struggles of the old. To say I was honored to be considered for his second book was an understatement. There are a million stories of overcoming on the internet, I’m still not sure how he came to choose mine. But, I’m pretty proud that he did.

The i’Mpossible Project will be released on January 13, 2016, but you can pre-order it now, and I hope you will. Not because my story is in it, but because we can all use more positivity in our lives, we can all use some encouragement from others, and some reminders that “this too shall pass” and that we can overcome anything.

The stories in this first volume are all about overcoming obstacles, reengaging with life, and creating new possibilities. I’m about halfway through the book now and I’ve been amazed at how powerful the stories in it are. Four of the first five stories made me cry. These were stories of a young boy who lost his father, of people learning of and learning to cope with a chronic diagnosis, of people hitting rock bottom and finding a way back into life. That’s really what this book is all about, learning to cope with the twists and turns that life has given us.

My story shares how I went from hitting rock bottom and ready to give up to discovering new passions because of Fibromyalgia and chronic pain. I sat down and started reading a few of the chapters in the book and I stopped when I had tears rolling down my face. This book has so many great stories, stories of overcoming loss, of learning to live after hitting rock bottom, of starting over in so many ways. I am both humbled and honored to be included int his collection.

Feeling as if I am at the end of life, with no life lines left, if it was available today
I would already have a copy. Congrats to you Julie! I need help to get started telling my story
the silence is killing me and if there is anyone listening your advice would be greatly appreciated,
I live alone with no support from family or friends I am not having a poor me moment, instead I am
reaching out for help in the best way I know how, I need to start from somewhere, even if it’s just
a daily blogg, but I don’t know how to even start that, I have been fighting this disease over 15 years
and it’s killing me! I need to be heard and there are no local support groups in my area. I hope some one can help point me in the right direction, thanks Julie,

Bobbye – if you are on Facebook please like my page there are a ton of really supportive people there. Also, if you would like to tell your story via the Fibro Warrior interviews that I post weekly I’d love to have you do so. Many have found sharing their story that way very cathartic and a great way to begin opening up.
