Last Updated: September 4, 2015

Welcome! It looks like you might be new here, so I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little about me and my blog. My name is Julie Ryan and I live with Fibromyalgia. I've chosen to live positively, to fight back with diet and lifestyle changes and it's made a huge difference for me. The difference between living all my days in bed, and actually LIVING. I hope you'll keep reading and subscribe to my Newsletter to make sure you don't miss a post. Thanks for visiting!

Are Natural Remedies for Depression Effective?

This is a sponsored post from http://homeremedieslog.com/

If you suffer with depression, it can be hard to get out of bed in the morning and function in society. And you’re probably in search of any cure that will get you back on your feet and back to smiling and being happy.

While there are plenty of prescription drugs that you can talk to your doctor about, there are also a lot of natural remedies that are recommended for those who deal with depression. A few of the more promising natural options are discussed below.

natural remedies for depressio

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, when offered by experts at high quality facilities like Smart Brain and Health, is a promising treatment for combating symptoms associated with depression. During this procedure, a doctor will place a big electromagnetic coil near your forehead so that it rests against the scalp. The doctor will then use magnetic fields and electric currents that will stimulate the nerve cells in your brain that are involved with depression and mood.

St. Johns Wort

For people who would rather take natural herbal supplements rather than prescription drugs, St. Johns Wort shows quite a bit of promise in the treatment of depression as well. Even though it isn’t approved by the FDA for the treatment of depression within the United States, it’s a popular remedy used throughout Europe, and it’s known for helping with mild to moderate symptoms of depression.

Talk to your doctor before taking this or any other herbal supplement, as it might interfere with other medications that you are taking. You also want to know about any potential side effects before taking this herb.

Light Therapy

If you tend to suffer from depression more severely during the winter, when the days are shorter and you are unable to get enough sunshine to boost your mood, you are not alone. Seasonal Affective Disorder affects many people, and one way to combat it is with light therapy.

During a light therapy session, you will situate yourself next to a bright box that will provide light that mimics the sun’s rays. You will typically start off with 15-minute sessions, but you can work your way up to 2-hour sessions, if necessary, depending upon how bad your symptoms are. Ultimately, the treatment is meant to ease your symptoms, and the results can be noticed surprisingly quickly after just a couple of sessions.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a popular natural remedy for a variety of ailments, and studies have already shown that depressed people who receive this treatment will go into remission. Plus, it has also been shown that those who are already taking anti-depressants feel even better when they combine their prescription therapy with acupuncture sessions.

Even though more studies need to be conducted in order to determine which natural remedies are really the most effective at combating depression, there are several that are already showing quite a bit of promise, and they are worth giving a try if you want to stick to a more holistic or natural healthcare approach.

    Hello Julie,

    Great Share !
Natural remedies are always helpful than any other medication!

Being depressed can make you feel helpless. You’re not. Along with therapy and sometimes medication, there’s a lot you can do on your own to fight back.

Chocolate! In addition to being a great source of magnesium, the very act of eating chocolate releases endorphin.

    Hi Julie,

Nice Post! Yoga could help in depression too. Also, Many depressed persons are resistant to seeing the doctor about their depression. Statistics show that the sooner a person seeks therapy and medication, the sooner they can enjoy living their life.

I used to suffer from severe depression for over a decade so I can very much relate to people who suffer from it. No medications or treatments ever really did anything for me (I tried them all haha) but I was actually able to cure my depression naturally after countless hours of online research and trial & error. What worked for me is:

      1. Take Omega 3 Fish Oil Supplements. Omega-3 fatty acids is a major building block in optimal brain chemistry. Ask your doctor for recommended dose.

      2. Follow every step in the full guide seen at http://newcureforhealth.com/depression to get to the root of the depression in a NATURAL way. This is the important bit!

      3. Make sure you drink atleast 2.5 litres of water every day. Hydration will really boost your depression state.

Try all those three steps together and hopefully you will get as much luck with getting rid of the pain as I did. Just stay confident as this depression does not have to be permanent as long as you have it in you for the battle to overcome it. Good luck and just hope I have helped someone
