Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead

Last Updated: December 19, 2011

Updated 5/15/14 That's me. Or so it feels like sometimes. Nutrition and diet have definitely been on my mind lately with all the stomach issues I've had lately, so it seemed timely to watch this movie today. Some friends had mentioned it to me a while back but I'd put off watching it. If you … [Read more...]

Review: What Your Doctor Doesn’t Know About Fibromyalgia

Last Updated: November 1, 2011

What Your Doctor Doesn't Know about Fibromyalgia: Why Doctors Can't or Won't Treat Chronic Pain  The title is misleading.I almost didn't read this book (leaving it on the shelf with so many others) because of the title and what I expected to find inside. What I expected to find was yet another "How … [Read more...]

Review: Tai Chi Basics

Last Updated: October 26, 2011

After reading a few dozen articles extolling the virtues of Tai Chi for those of us with Fibromyalgia, I finally broke down and gave it a try. I knew I needed something I could do that would get me moving slowly, but I found many Yoga moves too stressful on my upper body/neck issues. After reading … [Read more...]

Viibryd for depression

Viibryd for depression So about 10 days ago I finally had my appointment with the Psychiatrist to see what could be done about this major case of depression I've been under for the last 3 months. My GP had given me a script for Welbutrin to try in the meantime and while it did help a little, it … [Read more...]

Last Updated: June 27, 2011

I don't remember how I first came across this book, but it made it onto my reading list and I finally got a copy a few weeks ago. Re-reading the back cover I knew it had to jump to the top of my list and I'm so glad it did. Wendy Shankar is best known for her book The Fat Girl's Guide to Life. … [Read more...]

Review: I Remember Me (documentary)

I Remember Me - Documentary

I tried to watch this back in the summer when I was in really bad shape both mentally and physically. I had to turn it off after 30 minutes because it so impacted me. The documentary is about CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). I didn't expect it to sound so much like what I'd been going through. It's … [Read more...]

sweet misery - a poisoned world

I'm sharing this review here because many of the symptoms represented in this documentary are those we deal with daily. In fact, some of those who were talked to had been diagnosed as having Fibromyalgia, Lupus or even MS only to find it was a reaction to Aspartame (equal, sweet n low). Aspartame is … [Read more...]

The Fibromyalgia Handbook: A Review

The Fibromyalgia Handbook is not the 7 step Program to halting or reversing Fibromyalgia, as it claims to be. The 7 steps are just the breakdown of different types of treatments, and the suggestion is that you should be doing something from each of these types of treatments (which isn't a bad … [Read more...]
