Fibromyalgia and facial expressions

Last Updated: September 11, 2015

When I took a speech class  I had points deducted several times for not showing enough emotion in my face, or not being animated enough. I've seen it in others with Fibromyalgia as well, I think we learn to hide how we feel so well that it becomes difficult to express emotions of any kind … [Read more...]

Handling Negative People

Last Updated: July 12, 2015

Negative people are everywhere. There are those that will find the negatives in any idea, the "yeah but" people, and those who just can't seem to win for their own fear. It's that last group that gets my goat the worst. I've always been a "make it work" kind of person. If you tell me a problem I'm … [Read more...]

Last Updated: June 15, 2015

Why are so few men diagnosed with Fibromyalgia? During my recent interview with @Fibro_boy (aka Leo) he brought up the rarity of guys being diagnosed with Fibro, and his thoughts were so insightful (again I'm amazed at how wise this guy is for his age) that I wanted to share them as a separate … [Read more...]

Sunday Inspiration: My Mom is My Inspiration

Last Updated: May 10, 2015

Today is Mother's Day and as I started this week and realized that this day was coming I couldn't help but think about how much my mom is my inspiration in life. I was probably like most teenage girls who "hated" their mom. I felt like she kept me from doing so many things as a kid. There were a … [Read more...]

Ask Me Anything: Counting My Spoons

Ask me Anything

This post is filed as Inspiration Sunday, because I flat-out stole the idea from FibroGeek (with her permission, so I guess that's not really stealing). Over the last week or so I've posted out to Twitter and Facebook giving you the opportunity to ask me anything. @_chris_willis asks " I'm … [Read more...]

The Importance of Being Vulnerable

Last Updated: March 29, 2015

The Importance of Vulnerability

Vulnerability is difficult. Too often we associate vulnerability with weakness. Even looking at the thesaurus for synonyms that's what we find, weakness, exposed, sitting duck, naked, defenseless. But, what we don't realize is that it's the avoiding vulnerability that really makes us weak. … [Read more...]

When Caregiving Roles are Reversed

Last Updated: March 15, 2015

This week my inspiration comes from my husband. Monday morning I woke up to find out that my husband had been awake and sick all night. Really SICK! He was fairly sure (and so was I once he told me) that it was his gallbladder. We headed to the doctor and he sent us to the ER. By Monday afternoon … [Read more...]
