This week since it's a holiday I thought that instead of sharing a new interview, I'd share a little advice from past interviews. These bits are from some of the earliest interviews that I posted, but they still hold up and as you can see there's a lot of overlap in the advice given (and … [Read more...]
Extra Spoons and Inspiration
These posts contain little tips and inspiration to help you gain an "extra spoon" or two. Many with invisible illness call themselves "spoonies" in reference to The Spoon Theory by Christine Miserandino. The idea is that we equate our energy levels to spoons, when our energy levels are low, we need spoons. These posts are meant to help you increase your energy (whether mental or physical), and therefore your spoons.
5 Reasons why I am a terrible patient
I admit it, I'm probably the world's worst patient. If I look at all the advice online of things I should be doing as a patient, I can easily come to the conclusion that I am a terrible patient. What makes me a terrible patient? 1 . I have made no effort to get contact info for my … [Read more...]
An Inspired Life with Chronic Illness
An Inspired Life with Chronic Illness Each Sunday I try to share something from another blog (or something I'm reading) that has inspired me. Today, I want to share with you a few blogs that regularly inspire me. These are the chronic illness blogs that inspire me. I've shared many of them … [Read more...]
Stop Confusing “should” and “need”
I grew up being taught that things you should do were the same thing as things you need to do. This was especially reinforced with church. I'm sure that being a committed Christian meant that you SHOULD be in church as often as possible, that you should give as much as you can, that you should help … [Read more...]
Sunday Inspiration: I am no longer the person I once was
FibroFacialGirl recently posted about a HuffPost article that ticked her off. It was about a woman who realized she was no longer the woman her husband fell in love with, and set out to change things. This week's inspiration came from a reader's blog. Kimberly's blog is full of inspiration; however, her most recent post really touched off on something that I've been facing over and over again - dealing with life when things don't go as planned. Are you ever so tired, depressed, achy, and … [Read more...]

This semester is wearing me out, this week has been rough, so I don't have a lot to give you for Sunday Inspiration today. The best I can offer you is this: Don't be afraid to ask for help, don't let your pride get the in way. I've written a few times in the last few months about my decision … [Read more...]
Sunday Inspiration: When Everything is Going Wrong, Be Thankful
The last thing anyone fighting any chronic illness wants to hear is that someone else has it worse than you do. It really doesn't matter that your illness might not potentially be your cause of death, it has lead to the end of your life (as you know it). Our lives will end dozens (if not hundreds) … [Read more...]
Sunday Inspiration: Is it time to do something different?
Are you bored yet? It's a serious question. I think one true sign of how sick most of us are is that fact that we can continue to stare at the wall and NOT be bored. We really do feel that bad. When I finally started improving almost 3 years ago, friends started asking "So, when are you going to go … [Read more...]
Sunday Inspiration: Dealing with Unsolicited Advice
Living with chronic illness at times feels like you are wearing a sign that reads "Please offer unsolicited advice". Everyone seems to want to give us advice on what we are doing wrong, how we can feel better, etc, and the truth is that most of the time we want to smack them for doing it. Often … [Read more...]
