Jen sent me this poem, which does an excellent job of sharing just how resilient those of us living with chronic illness are. We may be broken, but we are strong. We may be hurting, but we are not done.
Resilience
by Jen
But I am not defeated,
The list of things I have to do
Is yet to be completed.
Forget what you see,
It’s what your eyes are blind to,
That makes up most of me.
I have a bullet-proof heart,
It will not betray me,
When my body falls apart.
For me to reach my goals,
I have to work a little harder,
To keep up the everyday show.I am not afraid of this,
No longer angry, nor ashamed,
I’ll be back again,
To break down these walls of pain.I’ll never give up on tomorrow,
They’ll never see me cede,
The prison no one knows about,
Won’t stop me being free.

This poem is absolutely Beautiful. And it can apply to so many of the invisible illnesses. I as well have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Migraines, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Osteoarthritis, TMJ.
I am also part of a domestic violence support group, and am always looking for things that may help the ladies in my group. I was wondering if I may have permission to share this poem?
If not, that’s ok too.
Have a Blessed Day..
