I began juicing at the start of 2013 as part of a major lifestyle change that overhauled my health and allowed me to begin feeling better after two years of chronic fatigue and chronic pain from fibromyalgia.
This year after realizing that I’d been avoiding juicing regularly because cleaning the juicer aggravated my shoulder pain, we upgraded to a masticating juicer. It juices a little slower but it’s so much easier to clean. The juice yield is also a lot better so it’s well worth the added time. I actually get almost 50% more juice out of the same amount of produce.
On the request of a reader I wanted to share with you some of my favorite juice recipes, including a couple that I’ve updated recently.
You’ll notice in the first two that I’ve started adding Turmeric to my juices lately. Turmeric is a great natural anti-inflammatory, and because I can no longer take NSAIDs it’s become an important part of my life. In addition to taking a daily supplement I’ve started adding it to my juice and drinking it in tea.
Daily Green Juice 1 cucumber | Pear Pie Juice 1 sweet potato |
Purple People Eater 1 cup of Red Cabbage | Sweet Veggie Juice 1 small butternut squash (peeled) 1 apple 3 carrots 2 cups of Spring Mix salad 1/2 Lemon |

Hi Julie

I am not researching it myself and came across your juicing
Thank you

I’ve had fibromyalgia for some years now. My consultant told me not to go down the route of NSAIDs because it would affect my quality of life. I knew I would look for a healthy alternative and I found it in juicing. I use a lot of ginger in my juices and thank goodness I love the fiery taste! I use all organic fruit and veg in my juices and I’ve even started growing my own vegetables for juicing.

Hi Julie, I am a fibro warrior from Ireland, I’m new to juicing, have you any easy recipes that help with the exhaustion/fatigue as well as pain, thanks
Julie says
Hi Jenny, my favorite is Joe Cross’s Mean Green Juice – 1 cucumber, 1 apple, 1 lemon, 2-3 leafs Kale, 1in chunk of ginger.
Jenny says
Thanks Julie I’ll give that a try 🙂

Julie, I’ve been juicing lately and wondering if you can use to much turmeric or ginger? Thanks! Kathy
Julie says
I hope not because I use a lot of both – well mostly ginger. I use more tumeric in cooking and just a little in juice as the taste can be overpowering. Ginger can be overpowering as well but I like that flavor a lot better. I really don’t know the answer to this question so it’s something I’ll see if I can look into a bit more.
