Spicy Watermelon Tango Juice

Last Updated: March 22, 2012

Welcome! It looks like you might be new here, so I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little about me and my blog. My name is Julie Ryan and I live with Fibromyalgia. I've chosen to live positively, to fight back with diet and lifestyle changes and it's made a huge difference for me. The difference between living all my days in bed, and actually LIVING. I hope you'll keep reading and subscribe to my Newsletter to make sure you don't miss a post. Thanks for visiting!

*BTW, just a heads up that the post below may have affiliate links (some of my posts do).

Welcome back! I'm so glad that you are here again. If you've not already, be sure to subscribe to my Newsletter and I'll update you each time I post (and occasionally I'll send you something special).

I like a little (and sometimes a lot) of spice. A couple of years ago I discovered my favorite mixed drink. We have a local bar that we like to check out on occasion that mixes everything by hand (all fresh ingredients, no mixes, etc) and we’d been out to dinner. I wanted desert but I didn’t want a typical desert. I’d somehow gotten a craving for a Strawberry Dacquari, but not a normal strawberry Dacquari. I wanted one with Habenero in it. I have no idea where that idea popped in from, but I decided it was what I wanted and I asked my favorite bartender if he could/ would make it for me. Never being one to turn down a challenge, he gave it a try and the “Jewel of The Nile” was born. I don’t know if anyone besides me ever ordered it, but it’s good and if you ever find yourself in Amendment XXI in Huntsville AL, you should order it.

So, I was at my local produce store and I saw some nice looking Habeneros and that got me thinking…. This could be a very interesting juice. So, since I’ve decided that Thursdays will be juice day I decided to try something a little different and new today, and I think it turned out quite tasty.

Spicy Watermelon Tango
1 Cup Pineapple
2 Cups Watermelon
1 Chunk Ginger
1/2 Habenero Pepper (may want to decrease or increase this depending on how hot you like it)
Handful of Cilantro

Pop the Ginger inside the Habenero and wrap in the Cilantro. Juice this first. Then follow with the Watermelon and Pineapple. I typically find it best to juice pineapple last because it can often clog up the juicer.

While I don’t typically chill my juices, I’m thinking this one would be best chilled over ice. If you drink alcohol it would also go really good with rum.
