You remember the saying “My eyes were bigger than my stomach”? This is usually referring to someone who’s gotten a ton of food only to realize that they weren’t as hungry as they thought they were. I was thinking today that we need a Fibro equivalent of that saying for those days when we wake up and we think we feel pretty good until we get moving and realize that we didn’t feel nearly as good as we thought we did.
That’s what happened to me this morning, after 4 days of a flare I woke up and I didn’t seem to be hurting nearly as bad (and maybe I wasn’t). I got up and tried to do Tai Chi. I wasn’t expecting to finish the whole workout but I thought I’d at least get as far as I did yesterday. Instead, halfway through the first section I realized that if I tried to go any further I was likely to pass out. So I stopped and went and laid back down for a while. I guess my brain had more energy than my body did… or something.
Anyone got any idea of a good phrase we can apply to these situations?
