For as old a technique as accupuncture is, you’d think there’d be more proof behind it by now. But, it’s amazing how few studies have been done on how or why accupuncture actually helps. Those of us who have tried it could tell you it helps, but we don’t know why.
A German study was recently done that shows that it really does decrease pain. My response was “no really?”.
I get acupuncture about twice a week. My chiropractor does it while I’m there and the areas that he addresses are primarily related to my neck/TMJ issues. He also inserts one needle in the top of my head for anxiety. That was the one that really amazed me and continues to amaze me. I can go in there with my mind going a million miles per second about a million different things, but after about a minute with that needle in the top of my head, everything just calms down. By the time I leave, I have no clue what I was anxious and bothered about. I think acupuncture does more to help me in that area than my meds do.

Dr Ross Jr at Ross Chiropractic Clinic (on the corner of Sivley & Gallatin – across from Huntsville Hospital). They are all awesome, both Jr & Sr are chiropractors at the clinic but only Jr does acupuncture. If your insurance covers chiro, you’ll only pay $7/visit (and that will include whatever therapies they use – I get acupuncture and ultrasound each time I go).

I am in Huntsville too and have been considering accupuncture. I also need to find a chiropractor. Would you please tell me, who is your chiropractor?
