The best thing about Christmas is that moment as you are opening a box when you don’t know what’s inside. It’s that feeling of excitement that you get, that what’s in that box might be something you really want and don’t even know it. That feeling is just what I felt when my first ChronicAlly Box arrived.
ChronicAlly Box is the first subscription box just for women who are chronically ill. It’s not a bunch of supplements (I get plenty of those in the mail, too) nor is it really anything necessarily illness focused and that might be the best part. It’s about wellness. It might be called ChronicAlly Box but I think that any woman would love to have one of these boxes arrive on her doorstep.
ChronicAlly Box was created by Ally, a fellow chronic illness warrior. She lives with and blogs about IBS and other chronic illnesses. She had an idea of wanting to make her fellow chronic illness warriors smile but it wasn’t until she was followed on Instagram by an unrelated subscription box that the idea hit her. So, it began.
I knew immediately that this was an idea that I had to bring to life. I had recently subscribed to a bunch of magazines because I really enjoyed the anticipation of those in the mailbox instead of unfavorable lab work and medical bills. So, why not a subscription box tailored to women living with Chronic Illnesses?! I even once told my husband, “I just want to make people happy for my work!” I feel like ChronicAlly Box is helping me to live out that dream.” – Ally
Ally is definitely making people happy. As the founder of Chronic Illness Bloggers, I’ve encountered a LOT of companies focused on the chronic illness market. We’ve reviewed a lot of products, but I’ve never seen our bloggers react to one like they have reacted to the Chronic Ally Box. I mean every single blogger who had the opportunity to try the box LOVED IT! Several decided to buy themselves a subscription. I’m hoping for one for Christmas and if that doesn’t happen I’ll buy one for myself.
Now, you want to know what’s inside that made me love this thing so much. First, I’m going to back up and point to a previous subscription box that I had the opportunity to try. It arrived and I had that excited feeling before I opened it then as I went through the items I felt like it just wasn’t for me. It was OK, and probably great for many people, but it just wasn’t for me. That was NOT what I felt when I opened my ChronicAlly Box. In fact, I felt from the second that I opened it that it had been packed just for me. In fact, Ally had gone the extra mile and included a hand-written thank you note in my box. Seriously, who does that?!
As soon as I saw that note, I knew that I had to stop and open this box live. So, I did just that. I opened it on Facebook Live so that I could share it right away with anyone watching (and anyone who might see the video later). Unfortunately, I went live on the wrong page so few saw it, which makes me said. But, now you get a chance to see it here.
To begin with the box is just so nicely packaged. I love the graphics that Ally chose for the box and that got me excited before I ever opened it. Every month the box is different, so I have no idea what will be in the next box she sends or the next box you receive. But, the November box was perfect for me.
How it Works
When you sign up, each month you receive a different ChronicAlly Box filled with 4-6 self-care items. Self-care is the focus – something we all need a little more of. The standard box costs $43.95/month but you can get a discount by subscribing for 3 or 6 months at a time. Also, right now if you sign up for the ChronicAlly email list you will get a discount code worth 10% off for life.
If you don’t take baths or if you are allergic to something that might come in a box you can let them know when you sign up and they’ll replace that item with something you can use (making the box even more personal).
In the November ChronicAlly Box
The November box included 5 amazing items, but I’ll start at the top. At the top of my box was a hand-written note from Ally, which I thought was amazing. That was followed by a card that described the box and each item in it. The theme of the November box was Par-Tea. The whole box was tea focused. I’m not a huge tea drinker but I like a cup occasionally. Even without a pure love of tea, I still loved this box.
My favorite item by far was the Slate “You Got This”
coffee tea cup. This cup is gold accented and is just a great reminder each day that I do “got this”. Even though it’s not dishwasher or microwave safe I use it often and I LOVE IT!
Along with the mug, there was tea (of course). Meditative Mind – a loose leaf tea from The Tea Spot. And, thankfully since many of us don’t have a tea steeper, there was one included in the box. A collapsible Tuffy Steeper.
Next up was the Clarity Bath Bag, filled with an aromatherapy bath salt combo that you put in a little bag, creating a “tea” for your bath. It smelled awesome and I really enjoyed adding that to my bath and drinking the tea the night I received my box.
And the final touch was the Hurraw chai spice lip balm, which I have sitting next to my chair now so that I can grab it whenever my lips need a little pick me up. I love the flavor and it does an excellent job of re-hydrating my often dry lips.
I’ve tried a lot of products in the past and a few that I really love. But, this one has stuck with me in a different way. I don’t just love this product, I want it. I want to give it to friends, I want to share it. I want the surprise inside each month. I want to know what’s on Ally’s mind and continue to see her thoughtfulness and I want to share it with you.
It’s not too late to add the ChronicAlly Box to your Christmas list, or you Valentines list, or birthday list or any other list you might have. Trust me, you want this. Head over and sign up for the email list to get the discount and order yourself a special treat. You’ll thank yourself (and me) later.
