My juicer broke…again. The Omega BMJ330 that I picked up at Big Lots for $99 a year ago. The first one I bought broke within a couple of weeks and now the second one has had the same problem. It seems that there’s an issue with the piece that connects the bowl to the screen that strains out the juice. During the few weeks I’ve been waiting for replacement parts, I’ve been using the Breville JE98XL juicer again. So, I thought I’d revisit my original Breville vs Omega juicer comparison post.
Note: On the basis of general appearance these two juicers are very similar. These are both centrifugal juicers, typically priced at about $150. They are designed very similarly, however the bowl and strainer for the Omega juicer are larger than the Breville juicer. Also, the spacing in the strainer appears wider.
The first thing I noticed when I pulled the Breville back out was the difference in the amount of juice it creates. The Omega juices MUCH better (as shown in the video that I did last year). However, the Breville is a lot easier to clean (which has been nice as my shoulder is still healing). They each have their advantages and disadvantages and at basically the same retail price it’s almost a draw depending on what is more important to you. Juice yield? Or Easier to clean? They obviously both have issues with breakage, but at least the Omega has a 10 year warranty.
My next juicer will be a masticating juicer, but I have to wait a while. In the meantime, I’m a little torn between these two juicers. The decrease in the waste from the Omega is a huge plus (as well as the increased yield of juice), but the Breville is easier to clean and the difference isn’t THAT huge. I didn’t show it on the video but the pulp from the Omega was about 3/4 to 1/2 what the Breville put out (and a lot drier feeling).
- 10 year warranty
- metal and plastic parts
- higher juice yield
- harder to clean
- single speed
- no warranty
- plastic parts
- adequate juice yield
- easier to clean
- multiple speeds
It’s a toss-up.
